At Meetley, your privacy matters. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Meetley, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve the Meetley experience:
- Account information — your name, username, date of birth, gender, phone number, and profile photo when you sign up.
- Profile information — your hometown, interests, bio, and any other details you choose to share.
- Usage data — events you join, trips you create or attend, people you connect with, and content you post.
- Location data — with your permission, we use your location to show nearby events and people. We never store your precise location history.
- Device information — device type, operating system, and app version for technical support and crash reporting.
- Communications — messages you send within the app are stored securely to enable chat functionality.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account
- To show you relevant events, trips, and people near you
- To enable messaging between users
- To send notifications about events, connections, and app updates
- To improve app features and fix bugs
- To keep the platform safe and prevent abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
We never sell your personal data to third parties.
3. Information you share publicly
Your profile name, photo, hometown, interests, and posts on the feed are visible to other Meetley users. Your phone number is never shown publicly. You can control visibility settings in your profile at any time.
4. Third-party services
We use trusted third-party services to operate Meetley:
- Twilio — for phone number verification (OTP)
- Google Places API — for location search
- MongoDB Atlas — for secure database storage
- Cloudinary / AWS S3 — for photo and media storage
These services have their own privacy policies and handle data only as necessary to provide their services to us.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal information within 30 days, except where required by law.
6. Your rights
- Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction — update or correct inaccurate data
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and data
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from non-essential notifications at any time

7. Children's privacy
Meetley is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will delete their account immediately.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Meetley after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
